Quick recap: what is Vermont Weddings Best of 2021 Series?

A little backstory if you’re unfamiliar: we started the Best of series last year (2020) to highlight some of the amazing work by the talented teams in the Vermont wedding industry. It’s an opportunity to both celebrate a year’s worth of weddings and inspire couples who are planning a future Vermont wedding. (A quick note on the word “best”: the intention isn’t to make this a competition between weddings, but to share a small, but representative, sample of the weddings in Vermont this year.  To that end, please know that we love each and every wedding that was submitted, and the final picks are carefully chosen based on a variety of factors to create a compelling series.)

Here’s what you can expect:

All December, we’ll be rolling out inspiring stories in various categories:

Plus, because the submissions were just THAT good, we’re sharing our “semi finalist” picks for each category on Instagram. That means you’ll want to follow us to see even more highlights, and come back to the blog each week to see the “best” picks in each category.

We recommend signing up for our newsletter – we’ll send you an email each week with the highlights so you won’t miss a thing. (Going forward we only send 1 – 2 emails a month.)

THIS COUPLE ELOPED AT THE KILLINGTON SUMMIT IN THE MIDDLE OF WINTER

You know the old saying “cold hands, warm hearts”? It rings true for Marie and Jared! This couple eloped on the summit of Killington Mountain with Jared’s sister and partner on a sunny, below 7 degree day.

“It was the most gorgeous day with those big sky views; we hardly even noticed the frigid temps!” says photographer Angela of Juniper Studios.

The couple stayed warm with their ski attire (and fashionable bridal fur) and the love from their close friends in attendance. Following their intimate ceremony they took their first run down the mountain as husband and wife!

THIS COUPLE WAS SURPRISED WITH BABY GOATS DURING THEIR BACKYARD WEDDING

Taylor and Joseph’s whimsical backyard wedding has a lot of beautiful details, including her cascading bridal bouquet and off-the-shoulder lace gown, and cakes made by the bride’s grandma. But the surprise four-legged guests steal the show!

Unique Wedding Gift – Baby Goats!

“As a child I had always wanted a goat of my own. I had mentioned this to my future husband multiple times,” laughs Taylor. “He was adamant however that we would never have goats because he thought they were essentially useless, so I had pretty much accepted the fact that this dream would never come true.”

On their wedding day, Taylor’s grandfather, who is “always joking back and forth with Joey,” said he had a surprise for the couple.

“Our DJ had our guests count down from ten, and my heart pounded as we heard everyone’s ‘awes’ behind us. When we turned around I couldn’t believe my eyes! At first I only saw one of the baby goats – and then I realized there were two! This time, my Grandpa got the last laugh. Now we are proud parents of our two little goat kids, Lila and Josie. We couldn’t be happier, and Joey has even mentioned getting a few more in the future!”

SNOWY WINTER ENGAGEMENT IN STRATTON, Vermont

Jessica and Mike’s relationship began over six years ago as friends. “That first winter, we both spent a weekend skiing in Stratton, VT with separate groups of friends and decided to mesh the friend groups together,” remembers Jessica. “It was such a fun weekend, and we both realized there might be something more between us!”

Since then, the couple has visited Mike’s family ski house in Stratton each winter. That’s why Stratton was the perfect backdrop for their engagement session captured by Juniper Studios
