True story: when I see photographer Colette’s name in my inbox, I get excited. Reason being? Her work is always gorgeous (see some samples below), and she is such a sweet, enthusiastic person! After sticking my nose up at wedding photography, a classmate from photo school asked me to 2nd shoot a wedding with her. Then, my fashion models from my advertising class started asking me to photograph their weddings in Brooklyn…and the rest is history. I am totally head over heels in love with capturing wedding days!
How would you describe your style?
90’s editorial at heart; classic portraiture; a touch of advertising.
What inspires your work?
I’m inspired by music, music videos, fashion magazines, people watching, fashion, art, and dance (ballet specifically).
What’s your favorite part of your job?
I get the privilege and honor of documenting and being a part of such beautiful stories and days.
Any special tips for couples getting married?
How you want to experience the day and how you want it captured are two different things to think about when it comes to photography. Think about who you are as a couple and what kind of style (candid, posed, etc.) may reflect your story. It’s easy to look online and daydream about those images but you want a photographer who will capture and jive with your reality.
What’s your favorite moment during a wedding?
Getting the bride dressed! It starts to get real. There is this beautiful, slow, and nervous energy in the room with tears, joy, and nerves. Some of my favorite images happen during that time because of this.
What song gets you on the dance floor at a wedding?
Dion’s “Runaround Sue”.
What’s your favorite thing to do in Vermont?
There is nothing like a Lake Champlain sunset!
If you weren’t a wedding photographer what would you do?
I’d be a video editor, a graphic designer, or a therapist.
What’s a fun fact about yourself?
I’m a native Vermonter, but have lived in: NYC, Boston, Sweden, Luxemburg, Mexico and Los Angeles before realizing Vermont is home and a pretty special place!
