After meeting Vermont wedding photographer Kate Seymour, you may be torn: do you ask her to photograph your wedding with her gorgeous, natural style…or be your new adventure BFF and break it down on your dance floor all night long? Read on to learn more about Kate, her photography style, favorite things to do in Vermont, and her advice for couples!
How did you get into the wedding industry?
On a bit of a whim! A friend asked if I would photograph her wedding (knowing I had a strong photography hobby) and once the butterflies flew away, I fell in love with capturing every special moment of the day! Haven’t looked back since.
How would you describe your style?
Natural, earthy, and raw. Love bringing the outdoors into my images and keeping things candid.
What inspires your work?
Outdoor adventure and movement – this maintains the natural look and feel and makes couples comfortable!
Meeting new people, hearing their stories and seeing new places!
Any special tips for couples?
Be as detailed as possible when discussing your day with your photographer. We are here to capture everything to tell a story. Every little moment is a special moment, even if it doesn’t seem like it, I guarantee you that looking back on your day, images of the smallest things on your wedding day will bring back all the feels!
What’s your favorite moment during a wedding?
The first dances. They can tell you so much about the relationship, the personality, and maybe I’ll get to learn a few new moves. 😉
What’s your favorite thing to do in VT?
Spending time on the trails (on foot, on skis, or on two wheels). Vermont is FILLED with fun trails to explore, often leading you to hidden waterfalls, swimming holes, mountain overlooks, etc.
If you had to choose another career, what would it be?
Adventure guide. I absolutely love sharing outdoor experiences with others. I’d love to travel the world planning exciting adventures for those who may be hesitant to head out on their own, giving them the skills and knowledge to feel more comfortable in their own escapades.
What’s a fun fact about yourself?
I used to own a dog boarding and daycare ranch in Wyoming.
What’s a song that always gets you on the dance floor?
That’s easy… whatever the first song that’s played… I’m on the dancefloor right from the beginning and typically never leave (except to take off my shoes and continue barefoot).
