Rock & Roll Themed Wedding at Old Lantern Inn and Barn

Kari and Patrick’s 1970s rock & roll themed wedding at Old Lantern Inn and Barn can only be described as an epic and wild event!  The vibrant colors, remarkable details, and personalization of this wedding is one we will NEVER forget!

Old Lantern Inn and Barn Summer Wedding

There are so many notable details to mention for this summer wedding! Old Lantern Inn and Barn was the perfect venue to host this awesome couple and their guests. Kari and Patrick are both musicians and made sure to incorporate many unique details and vendors, while still honoring classic wedding traditions.

Their outdoor wedding ceremony was unforgettable. Kari walked down the aisle to a live electric guitar solo of “Layla” by Derek and the Dominos. Kari’s father had sadly passed away nine years earlier, so a seat was saved for him in the front row along the aisle. They made sure to include her father’s memory during the ceremony by being wrapped in his tallis by the officiant. The moment Patrick and Kari kissed as husband and wife, the DJ blasted “Let’s Go Crazy” by Prince as the couple geared up for the breaking of the glass, a Jewish ceremony tradition. Then, the whole wedding party danced it out!

Rock & Roll-Themed Wedding Details

The reception decor was out of this world! They went all out with the 1970s rock n’ roll theme! First, their card box was an open guitar case and the guest book was known as the “Groupie Book.” Instead of table numbers, all guests sat at band tables labeled by vinyl record centerpieces. Along with a vinyl record on each table, the centerpieces had a bouquet of flowers with the couple’s favorite love lyrics from the table’s specific band. For their photobooth, Patrick drew a rock n’ roll cow. His dad enlarged his illustrations up onto wood panels to create stand-up face-hole cutouts!

Their first dance was to “Fooled Around and Fell in Love” by Elvin Bishop and it was unlike any other we’ve seen! The choreography was complete with lifts and Patrick playing Kari’s leg like a guitar. Kari and Patrick then performed their own cake-cutting song on guitar and bass (with a friend drumming). They got married on July 3 so they changed the lyrics of “Saturday in the Park” by Chicago to “Sunday in Vermont…the day before the 4th of July!”

Everyone was on the dance floor for the rest of the night! The hora was one-of-a-kind, arranged by a musician friend that sampled 17 rock songs represented by the bands labeling each guest’s dinner table. A guest brought a Dave Grohl cardboard cutout (Patrick loves the Foo Fighters) and he crowd-surfed when “Times Like These” played at the reception.

Instead of a sparkler send-off, Kari and Patrick had a lighter send-off. All guests were given lighters like at a big rock concert and waved them around as Kari and Patrick left the barn as “I Would Do Anything For Love” by Meat Loaf played.

This epic wedding goes to show the small details and meaningful music selections can be incredibly memorable!
